Off-street parking

Off-street parking zones are bounded areas within the cities.

They may be found near rail or bus stations, where they are often called “ride and go”, or hospitals, malls, airports and many more.

Off-street parking is sometimes regulated as paid parking. If so, there may be a barrier or gate to control the access and a parking meter.

Smart parking facilities are based on the real-time communication of the number of vacant parking spaces to users.

It can be very challenging to know the number of vacant spaces in real-time, especially if there are no barriers at the entrance or exit of the area.

Sky Light Sensor can count vehicles going in and out of the car park, so it can be used to monitor all the entry and exit gates. The difference between the vehicles going in and out the car park gives the number of parking bays available in specific time intervals.

Sky Light Sensor transmits the data to the server in real-time. Integrators and developers can build mobile applications and software to communicate data to users. Information can be also displayed on variable message signs.

Besides giving useful information to users, this system is beneficial to the efficient management of car parks. Owners, managers and local governments can know the occupation rate, how many spaces are occupied but not paid for, statistics on average parking time, revenue and more parameters for a better management and strategy.
