Adaptive traffic light control

Traffic lights are one of the most used methods to control traffic. However, traffic management is more efficient when data on actual traffic conditions are available to manage traffic signs in real time. This is called adaptive traffic light control.

A smart solution is to use in-ground sensors for wireless vehicle detection instead of inductive loops. In this way, installation and maintenance operations are very quick. Also, the detection accuracy is higher compared to inductive loops because Sky Light Traffic Sensor uses a combination of optical and magnetic technology to detect vehicles. This is the best solution in stop-and-go traffic where vehicles are very close to one another.

Adaptive traffic light control is an effective tool to lower the level of pollution in the cities because it helps reduce the waiting time at intersections and traffic congestion.

Adaptive traffic light control system with wireless sensors for vehicle detection

Sky Light Intersection System can be used to control a single traffic signal as well as to coordinate multiple traffic lights. The sensors monitor the traffic flow and send information to the traffic light controller via radio through an interface card placed into the traffic controller cabinet. The controller of the traffic light manages the time intervals of green and red signals according to the actual traffic situation.
