THE PROJECT
This installation has been completed in June 2015 with Roma Servizi per la Mobilità Srl, the municipally-owned public transport agency which is in charge of programming bus routes and providing real-time information and services to users in Rome. The existing traffic light system has been integrated with Sky Light Sensors. The plant is located by the urban train station of Torre Maura.
Three wireless sensors for each direction of travel have been installed. Besides, there is a Hub for coordination and interface, which is installed inside the controller cabinet.
In this case, the road layout consists of mixed-use lanes, also involving an urban railway lane named “Roma-Giardinetti”. Sky Light Sensors monitor the transits of all kind of vehicles, including trains.
Nabla Quadro system for train detection has been previously tested by Roma Servizi per la Mobilità in a project involving the tramway located in via Aldrovandi in Rome.
