THE PROJECT
In February 2015, the Smart Service Cooperation Lab started the implementation of the second phase of the Smart Cities Test Plant project, in via Fioravanti in Bologna.
The area in front of the City Council offices has been filled with different detection technologies for traffic and parking monitoring. Besides Sky Light Systems, there are cameras equipped with video analysis software to detect vehicles in transit and parking spaces. Besides, in the test area, there were already inductive loops to control a traffic light nearby.
16 sensors in parking version and 8 sensors in traffic version have been installed.
The purpose of the tests is to compare performance, accuracy, actual energy consumption and the quality of the data coming from all the different technologies installed in the area. The results of this installation is a valuable instrument for Public Administrations to choose the most suitable technology for their specific needs, not only from the economic point of view but also based on technical quality.
